The key to personalized literacy instruction is KNOWING your student and purpose for learning.  Students should be able to answer:

  • What am I learning today?

  • Why am I learning this?

  • How will I know that I learned it?

After collecting and analyzing data, it is important to purposefully determine next steps in instruction.  What ACTions can be taken to close the gap between the students' current level of performance and the expected level of performance?  How can options be maximized to meet the needs of all students and remove the barrier that there is only ONE way to teach small groups?
